Traktor Team Ready For Anything in Hawaii

Ace, and a bit of everything - his 5'5" Black Baron twin fin, up to 6'6" FMNII round pins... and bigger. Just before the last proper swell washed all of this sand away. Photos by Ryan Miller and Trevor Moran

Most of the Traktor Team have will have spent around a month on the North Shore by now. Some closer to six weeks by the time Pipe wraps up, and this means a lot of boards. Fun boards, high performance shortboards, to step-ups and 7'0" plus guns. Back-ups for boards you might not have ridden all year, but will likely be the go-to if Pipeline or Backdoor rumble to life. Back-ups for your back-ups in those really key sizes. Something to keep things fresh and exciting on the smaller days. Full galley and dimensions, below:

Bright, fresh FMNII round pins, ready to get tubed.

Ace, taking the high road.

The new Black Baron twin, exactly what you want in between swells.

When a down day is still chest high and off-shore, you can really count yourself lucky. Especially with a board that'll make the most of anything. Ace's quiver, below (he's 5'9" / 73kg):

Hiroto, with most of his FMNII's, which make up about half of his North Shore sleds. Meant for any wave with really good shape and plenty of push, up to pumping, critical conditions, the FMNII is ridden 1/16" thicker than your normal shortboards and all-rounders, yet tapers to a refined rail for control and turning at high speed.

Heavy tubes to as high performance as it gets, the FMNII has been a favourite for the whole team in Hawaii so far. Hiroto, taking a new school line on a more rippable day. Quiver breakdown, below (he's 5'4" / 64kg):

HYFI Monsta 8
5’7 1/2” x 18 1/4” x 2 1/4” x 23.5L

6’4” x 18 1/4” x 2 5/16” x 27.3L

Ryan, doing some R&D just before taking out the Pipeline Invitational trials.

The benefits of a longer rail line and a lot of valuable muscle memory.

Backside tuberiding is tested at Backdoor like almost nowhere else. Evidently, Ryan's got the combination of experience and freakish ability you need to do it justice. And of course, the right equipment.

At the other extreme of North Shore conditions - running and rippable. Quiver details, below (he's 6'0" / 80kg):
