We're right in the middle of the CT's dream leg, and with this type of wave quality on hand, you know Joel's going to be a major contender at each stop. Fiji especially is one of Parko's favourite places in the world, and after tearing his way to the semi-finals at Cloudbreak on a new FOMO channel bottom Monsta 6, there have been a few late additions to his J-Bay board bag!
Ever since JS made himself a few channel bottoms over the Christmas holidays (including one borrowed/stolen by Joel for a trip to Bali), the boys have kept them on hand whenever the waves turn on. Now, with Parko heading to one of the best and fastest point breaks in the world, it's the perfect time to break out a bunch of fresh FOMOs, plus his standard go-to Monsta 6s. Full breakdown, below (he's 6'0" / 81kg):
MONSTA 6 - 6'0" x 18 7/8" x 2 3/8" x 28.1L
MONSTA 6 - 6'1" x 18 7/8" x 2 3/8" x 28.6L
MONSTA 6 round - 6'2 1/2" x 18 7/8" x 2 3/8" x 28.7L
MONSTA 6 swallow - 6'2 1/2" x 18 7/8" x 2 3/8" x 29L
Four channel bottoms in slight step-up dims, plus two more (bottom) in Joel's regular shortboard size.
With a lot of the bigger boards being round tails, JS also put a few swallows in to mix perfectly with the speed of the longer channel bottoms. This one (left) also has a similar tiger spray to one of Joel's favourites from last year that he rode to the final at Trestles... here's hoping one of these lets him get on a similar role in SA!
