2017's started with a mixed bag of waves on the Gold Coast, from almost pumping, to super average and plenty of classic fun little summer days in between. So, with lots of surfing to do and plenty of different waves around, JS has gone ahead and shaped himself a whole new quiver! The boss's work ethic means he barely ever stops designing, so before getting back into making the next round of boards for the team and keen surfers all around the world, this is what he's come up with for himself!
*Good to know - Jason's coming off a knee injury, prompting a slight tweak from his normal dims (the same as Parko's), to slightly thicker and nearly a litre more volume, which is essentially up one size on all of our stock dims. Full board breakdowns, below (he's 5'11" / 83kg).
NITRO - 5'8" x 19 3/4" x 2 7/16" x 30L
BLAK BOX 2 - 5'10" x 19 3/4" x 2 7/16" x 30.4L
HYFI MONSTA BOX - 5'11" x 19 1/2" x 2 7/16" x 29.7L
MONSTA BOX ROUND - 5'11" x 19 1/2" x 2 7/16" x 29.9L
MONSTA 6 - 6'0 1/2" x 19 1/8" x 2 7/16" x 29.3L
FORGET ME NOT - 6'2" x 19" x 2 7/16" x 29.2L
Right about now the HSV wagon comes in pretty damn handy. All stacked up for summer!
We called this Forget Me Not channel bottom the FOMO, partly because everyone seems to be doing channels, but mostly because you really don't want to be missing out when the waves are good enough to jump on this weapon!
Jason was calling the last HYFI Monsta Box he made for himself the most fun all-round board he's had in two years, which is a huge call for the man with just about every type of performance craft under the sun! Also the prototype for our HYFI Monsta Box stock boards, it's essentially the same great daily driver, with slightly lower rails to compensate for HYFI's extra buoyancy, plus the mind-blowing acceleration off the mark and through turns of the new tech.
