R.I.P Andy Irons
It is with absolute shock and pain to know that our dear friend Andy Irons will not be with us any more. Andy was an exceptional human. He was always full of emotion, weather it was the fire that burned into him while competing or having a laugh and good time while free surfing or just hanging out. He always got so excited about new boards. He wore his heart on his sleeve and always told it the way it was, good or bad.
Our deepest condolences go out to the Irons family, Andy's wife Lyndie and all Andy's friends, our thoughts are with you.
Andy, if your up there reading this, we love you and will always ride with you in spirit.

AI WINS ON KONFUSION
Take a closer look at the Konfusion - the equipment of choice throughout the Tahiti contest and AI's comback in general.
Also the the LE fins mentioned (by Kinetik Racing).

Also can the Konfusion be ordered in round or swallow tails without hurting the integrity of the design?

just about to order a nitro. I'm 5'10'' and 85kg. What size would you suggest.
Also, I crush my boards pretty quickly, so what glassing can you suggest to make it strong but not too heavy.
Thanks mate

Anyway, I'm 5'9", 84 kg(bit overweight), riding a 6'1" 18 1/2, x 2 1/4 Combat, which goes allright in waves with a bit of push behind it, but def not a good paddling board or small wave board. I was keen on getting a 5'8 NItro as a small wave board, and keep the combat as my day to day...but now, with the konfusion released, which one do you recommend and what dimension should i ride the Konfusion??
Will i be able to have fun on those real small days, at the goldie beachies with the konfusion?
Been surfing for 14 years now just so you know.
Tks heaps mate

I have a Nitro..5'6 and also a 5'8 XR which I love,I am short guy 5'7 155lbs.What I want is a board for REALLY good waves that are really hollow for a trip upcoming. The waves probably will be anywhere from head high to 2ft overhead but have a pretty steep drop with hard offshores.Konfusion??Wait for the mystery model??Trip is not til March...Had a Parko small wave 6'0 that was too big for me even in overhead surf.

I'm excited about the konfusion, but undecided on 5'11" or 5'10" in stock dims. Currently on a 6'0" x 18 1/2 x
2 1/4 combat, wondering how either of these would compare in float to it. I want to go as short as possible but don't want to have less float than the combat, what do you recommend.
I'm 167cm & 67kg

I have 1 5'10x19.75x2.38 blakbox and love it! Thinking that the next logical step-up for bigger/better days would be the konfusion? How would you size these in reference to the blakbox? I currently do not have a standard hp shorty besides the blakbox.
Cheers,
Robert

Stoked to hear you love your BlakBox. Yeah your not wrong, the Konfusion will allow you to surf the bigger days yet still has enough foam for the weaker gutless days. If your on a 5'10 Blakbox I would suggest the 6'1 or 6'2 Konfusion. Cheers JS

I can't decide between the 6'3" and 6'2" konfusion. I am 6'2" 88kg. And I usually ride a 6'3" or 6'4" 19" 2.5"
Will there be THAT much difference between the 6'2" and 6'3" konfusion?
Also I ride a 6'1" blakbox, for reference.
Which one do you think I should get?

I recommend sizing down 1-2" on a Konfusion from your normal board. The dimensions of the Konfusion allow for extra paddle power also. Lots of love for the Konfusion - glad you are considering jumping on one.

the fins here? Seems like all the
boards I got from you that were made in aus. had a half a patch which I like,
and most guys over here in the states
but a full patch all the up making it to
stiff. Is this true? I just want to make sure it comes out like the boards I got from aus. thanks Aaron

I'm considering buying a Konfusion but I'm not sure what size.
I'm 88 Kgs, 31 yrs, intermediate (been surfing a lot in the past 2 years, a bunch of Indo trips etc), live in Sydney.
For my "normal" shorty I've been riding the Chunky 6'4 Occy (19.5 x 2 5/8) this is definitely too boaty for me now that I've gotten better and have lost 5 kgs.
I jumped on a mates 6'4 Jordy (19' x 2.5') it was really nice when I was on the wave, but probably taking off a bit late / not getting into the wave early enough due to the much lower vol than I'm used to.
I've been riding a 6'2' x 19.75' x 2.5 Insight Penn Designs "Zero" round tail for small waves ( 3.5 foot and under waves)
So what size Konfusion do you think I'd enjoy for a nice all rounder board?
cheers mate!

Just wondering about getting a konfusion for myself. 5'9, 62kg. Normal hpsb is 5'11 or 6 x 18.25 x 2.25, pro model (dude who has a few titles under his bald head).
5'10? Cheers, really looking forward to copping one of these!

I surf mostly beachbreaks up to 6ft in Portugal. I am 1.90m tall and 90 kg.I surf a 6.3 19 2.5 tokoro but I would like to have a bit more volume for easier take off. many thanks in advance!

I have surfed a range of different boards, including firewires, compsands and different PUs but there is definitely something special about this board.
I am 85kg, just under six foot tall and competent (i surf a couple of times a week) but no where near one of the better surfers in the local line up. I got a 6'2 which feels perfect.
cheers JS love your work

How much wider is the Konfusion's nose/tail width than a standard shorty?
My current shortboard is 6.3 x 19 x 2.25, works good in 3-6 foot hawaiian. I'm tall and lanky. My step-down boards are my all-a-rounders. I want to order the Konfusion as that. say 6.1 or 6.1 1/2, and should i go wider or keep it at 19", or 19 1/8" or 1/4". What if i want to get the tail pulled in too, like Jacks boards are lookin.

KONFUSION in store soon.........
JS
The cat is out of the bag!

There’s been heaps of talk about AI and his stepped up, 3rd place performance at the 6.0 Trestles WQS last week on some mystery board of JS.
So to save any Konfusion we thought we better fill you in a little.
In down time AI has been surfing and training on the Goldie with Parko, LE and JS which of course involves trying a few of the boys Traktors, and one in particular, that has got him freakin’. Were not gonna give the the secret up but we can tell you its called KONFUSION. A little something JS shaped for himself and was sitting pretty in a small pile of R&D boards to be released next summer. AI rode the un-badged sample, and wouldn’t give it back.
He loved it so much JS had to make more the same to take to the US, unaware that everyone, in particular AI would make such a fuss about it.
Looks like this thing could be available sooner than expected.. So keep an eye out for it.
Coming to a store near you...
If you havent seen it already, check AI surfing KONFUSION at 6.0 lowers Pro..
Go to Day 5 - "WQS QF Heat 3" on the side bar to watch Andy's Heat
