Thanks Jason, the 5'9 sounds ideal but I think you only get a choice of 5'8 or 5'10 in europe, they don;t seem to import all the sizes. The 5'10 is the safe option but I'm worried it might have a bit too much volume and be too boaty, possibly the 5'8 a bit too little volume. Tricky for you to say but what would be your go?

I have a 5'10" blakbox and love it!! top 2 boards of all time for small to medium waves. What would be your suggestion for a better wave board that's a good compliment to the blakbox?

Hey JS,
I'm 5'10 about 165 lbs and old :) (36 years)
intermediate level, surf mostly beachbreaks here in huntington and also surf trestles a few times a week. waves kinda on the softer side.
Good wave thruster is a 6'2x19x2.38 and also a 6'0x19.25x2.44 lost sd2.

Hi UK DAVE, sounds like the board is suited to what you'll be riding. Basically, the board is designed for the days when your standard board just won't generate the speed you are after. In saying that, in good conditions 4+ the Blakbox will have too much foam in the tail during your bottom turns and will tend to slide out. Perfect for square bottom turns and super responsive in sloppy weak conditions, not for the epic days.

Hi JOSH - Given how light you are I would be going for a 5'4 BlakBox. Parko is riding it as a 3 fin setup using Luke Egans LE-3 Kinetik Racing Fin. The board would be super fun for small bondi but the BlakBox is limited to surf up to 3 foot. I wouldn't ride it in anything bigger than what Joel is in the video. If you want a board thats suitable for all conditions thrown at you look into our new Konfusion model. JS

Jason, I am presently riding a 5'6" Nitro quad and a 5'10" Bruce small wave, I am looking to get a Blak Box. Was wondering how much more volume the stock BB has compared to the stock Nitro. Looking for a bit more flotation to compensate for the added weight of a wettie.

Hi GT - The BlakBox is slightly more buoyant due the the foam distribution. It has a flatter deck than the Nitro and although the Nitro is 2 1/4, the thickness tapers off to the rails. The Nitro in 2 1/8 yet maintains this thickness the whole way across. JS

Wish your sight listed volume of your boards, some of us live in parts of the world that we can't get our hands on the actual boards prior to purchase and depend on as much possible info available via the web. Hi JS, I live on the East Coast, USA. We get small, soft waves all the time. I'm 5'9" and 195 lbs. I think the Blak Box will be a perfect board for the waves we get, but should I go for the 5'10" or the 6'0"?? Or something else?

Hi TUCKET - If the waves you ride are generally under 4ft and you want a board thats going to help generate speed, easy to paddle into waves yet super responsive then I would be going for the BlakBox, it has the flattest rocker out of our whole range. Given your weight I would be jumping on the 6'0. Jordy and Luke both ride the 6'0 and they are 185lbs and 200lbs respectively, so you sit somewhere in the middle. JS

Hi JESSIE - Your performance board dimensions and weight are both very similar to Parko and he rides the 5'8. I would suggest stepping it up to the 5'9" but no bigger. Cheers mate. JS

Hi GF - For beach break surf I would recommend the Nitro or the BlakBox - the Blakbox is good in anything up to 3ft and the Nitro up to 4ft. I would recommend the 6'0 in either as you can drop 4-6 inches given the added width and thickness. The Blakbox has slightly more foam all round and a lower entry so you will find it a little easier to paddle into waves. Cheers JS

Gday there Dyl,

I would look at a BlakBox 5'9 to get you going in average to good waves. The extra width will give you a board that is forgiving in crappy surf, but it will still do the business when the waves turn on.

This board looks dynamite (as do all the others). Im looking at a 5'8. Im 5'8, 63kg. On the money, or should I be going smaller? My board for better days is 5'11 x 18 1/4 x 2 1/4. Im in southwest W.A if that makes any difference.

Jason, I am currently riding a 6'2" x 18 5/8" x 2 5/16" JS Jordy model. Absolutely love this board by the way, I think its the best board I have had all time. It definitely has more than enough foam for me at these dims. I am 5'11" and 175 lbs (180cm & 80kgs) I'm a competent surfer and was wondering what size Blak Box I should go for. I am sort of debating the 5'9" and 5'10", but wondering if the 5'9" would be too thin at 2 1/4". I would be riding it in 2-3 foot or mush summer/spring conditions.

What dims do you recommend for BB? Is BB suited to peaky beach breaks or longer walled waves? Also do you have volume of 6.0, 6.1 and 6.2? The boards look sic! Cheers Mag

Ewen, from that info i'd say a 5'7 or 5'8 - general rule of thumb is 3-4" off your normal shorty for a summer series board.. JS

Ewen, web guy is posting new UK store list on "where to buy" page now. It will list all the stores with fresh stock. Should be lots of blak boxes (no carbon though, sorry). Go 5'9 if available, might have to call round, Im not sure who has what..JS
